Herbert Eugene Sitler was born on December 18, 1943, in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Lola (Speidell) Sitler and passed away on November 8, 2017, at his home in Garland at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 21 days.
Herb grew up in Lincoln where he attended Lincoln High School. He enlisted into the United States Army on Jan. 31, 1966, in Omaha. Herb served in Germany before being honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1969. After his military service Herb worked at Lincoln Steel and Capital Steel for many years. On April 15, 1966, Herb was united in marriage to Patricia Lee Fryc at the Raymond United Methodist Church. The couple then made their home in Garland ever since.
Herb had many hobbies, he enjoyed building race cars, watching NASCAR on T.V., fishing, tinkering in the garage making things, spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Herb was a firm believer in having fun. His favorite quote was "Drive Safe and Behave".
Herb was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Packett; father, Robert Sitler; step dad, Claude Packett; grandparents, Ernest and Gertrude Speidell; uncle, Ernie Speidell; parents-in-law, Fred and Marie Fryc; brother-in-law, David Fryc.
Herb is survived by his wife, Patricia (Fryc) Sitler; son, Ron and wife Stacey Fryc; daughter, Kim and husband Tim Fiala; seven grandchildren, David Fryc, Micheala and Clint Yocum, Matthew Fiala, Karissa Fiala, Brandi Fiala, Cody Fryc, Casey Fryc; six great grandchildren, Kinly Yocum, Kylin Fiala, Makenna Fiala, Bentley Fiala, Cayston Yocum, Nevaeh Fiala. Special friends, Doug Alms and Jayln Hagen; brothers, Neil and Kelley Packett, Larry and Barb Packett; sister, Bonnie Packett and Ben Hitch; sisters-in-law, Karen Fryc Studebaker, Carol (Fryc) Gene Mayfield; many nieces and nephews and grand dog, Milo. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Herb.
