Hilda Caroline Helena Bertha (Hering) Lunney was born September 11, 1919, in Seward, Nebraska the daughter of William and Alwina (Albright) Hering and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 15, 2012 at the age of 92 years, 10 months, 4 days. Hilda was confirmed on March 25, 1934. She attended country school and the Garland school. On May 11, 1947, Hilda was united in marriage to Virgil Lavern Lunney in Marysville, Kansas. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Gene, Terry, Linda and Debbie. Hilda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Garland. She worked for many years at the Corner Café and Johnson's Café, both in Seward and owned Hilda's Café in Seward. Hilda loved to cook and particularly enjoyed her family gatherings. She was the "rock" of the family. She also was a member of senior citizen groups in Malcolm and Immanuel Lutheran "Middle Creek". Hilda was very fond of her cat, Blacky and Sammy. Hilda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil L. Lunney; her grandson, Mark Lunney; son-in-law, Dan Svoboda; sisters, Luella Schaefer, Ruth Schaefer and Elsie McCollum. Hilda is survived by her children and their spouses, Gene and Yvonne Lunney, Garland, Terry Lunney, Garland, Linda Svoboda, Lincoln, Debbie and Chip Aegerter, Seward; nine grandchildren, Gena and Dan Brecka, Yvette and Andy Mentink, Tracy and Daryl Poppe, Laura Olson, Kim and Mike Brown, Jamie and Darrick Blackman, Nathan Svoboda, Chase Aegerter, Taylor Aegerter; 10 great-grandchildren, Brayden Brecka, Jacy Mentink, Koy Mentink, Alexis Poppe, Brooklynn Olson, Logan Brown, Kelsey Brown, Bailey Brown, Mason Dallegge, Morgan Blackman; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
