Howard Dale Fuehring was born on October 20, 1924, in Seward, County to Edgar and Bertha (Abele) Fuehring and passed away in Seward on December 23, 2018, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 3 days.
He attended Country School, District 8 and graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1941. Dale earned his Bachelor, Master's and Doctorate Degrees at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He farmed in Seward and Hamilton Counties in Nebraska and also in New Mexico at various times. Dale was united in marriage to Geraldine Geanette Gowen in North Loop, Nebraska in 1947. Three sons were born to this union: David, Richard and John. In 1959, the family moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where he was a professor of Agriculture at the American University of Beirut. In 1969, they returned to the U.S. and moved to Clovis, New Mexico, where he was a Research Professor and also farmed. In 1990, after retirement, they moved to Lincoln. Geraldine passed away in 2001. Dale moved to Seward in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gerry Fuehring; son, David Fuehring; four brothers-in-laws, Harold Keller, Richard Tempel, Robert Johnson and Richard Gowen.
Dale is survived by two sons, Richard Fuehring, Clovis, N.M., John and wife Cathy Fuehring, Fort Worth, TX; daughter-in-law, Gwen Fuehring , Boulder, CO; three sisters, Jean Keller and Janet Tempel, both of Seward, Maxine Johnson, Lincoln; sister-in-law, Joan Gowen, Aurora, NE and many nieces and nephews.
