Hulda Martha Campbell, age 96 years, of Seward, Nebraska, died May 18, 2012, departing in her normal gentle way. Hulda, ninth child of Ernest Herman Schomburg and Sophie Margaret Mary Dorothy nee Meyen Schomburg was born February 25, 1916 in Marysville, Nebraska. Her siblings were: Charles "Shammy" Schomburg, Elsa Emilie Amanda Nagel Butzke, Mary Maria Sophia Reinmiller, William "Willie" Schomburg, Alma Sophia Pflughaupt, Emma Sophie Liermann, Sophia Alvina Phelps, Wilhelmina "Minnie" Anna Eng, Alice Caroline Rudolph, John "Buddy" Frederick Schomburg. Hulda was raised in Staplehurst, Nebraska. She attended cosmetology school and eventually opened her own beauty shop in Seward. She married Walter "Duff" Campbell December 15, 1946 and they lived their entire lives in Seward. "Big Duff" preceded her in death September 28, 1972. For a number of years she worked at Mueri Drug where she could be found with a dust rag in her hand and a helpful smile on her face. Hulda was a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great grandmother, and Friend who was slow to anger but always quick with a laugh or a joke. She and Duff hosted many evenings of fun with the extended family being the focus. She was a caregiver, Campfire Girl Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, church worker, or most any other kind of volunteer she was asked to be. A hard worker, she was also always ready to have fun or "go" with anyone's suggestion of a destination. She took many adventuresome trips with her sisters which included crocheted swimwear and an unexpected attendance at a Native American funeral. Her good nature always found the fun in everything She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings. She is survived by her immediate family which includes Jennie and Marshall Borchert and Walter "Duff" and Becky Campbell. Grandchildren: Amy Hensley, Elisa and Drew Davies, James Campbell and fiance' Natalie Kinnaman, Taylor and Karen Borchert, and Brian and Cassie Campbell. Great granchildren: Decklan Andrew Hensley, Ady Margaret Borchert, Finn Campbell Hensley, Charles Bond Borchert, Miles Bond Davies, Truman Marshall Davies, and a soon to be born Great Grandson Campbell. Hulda is survived by two large family trees of nieces, nephews, grand, great grand, and great great grand nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law. Her smiling face, quick wit and sunny disposition will be missed by friends and family alike. Go somewhere today and do something fun and know that "Grannie" is with you. and the good in everyone.
