She was baptized as an infant in Germany. At age 12, Ida emigrated to the United States in the Chicago, Illinois area. Ida was one of six surviving of ten children. She was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Chicago, in 1923. She attended their Lutheran school where she learned English. Her English greatly improved as she worked as a telephone operator. Ida was united in marriage to James Temenak on June 1, 1929. This union was blessed with 4 children, June, Susan, James and Lorry. Ida and Jim made their home in Chicago where they worked and raised their family. In 1976, they retired to Cotter, Arkansas. After the death of her husband in 1980, Ida moved to Seward. Ida was a faithful worshiper and member for 25 years of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and also a member of St. John Ladies Aid.
