Ida (nee Hirsch) Temenak, blessed with 98 years of life, went home to her Lord on October 29, 2007, in Seward, Nebraska. Ida was born in Willenberg, Germany, on February 10, 1909. She was baptized as an infant in Germany. At age 12, Ida emigrated to the United States in the Chicago, Illinois area. Ida was one of six surviving of ten children. She was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Chicago, in 1923. She attended their Lutheran school where she learned English. Her English greatly improved as she worked as a telephone operator. Ida was united in marriage to James Temenak on June 1, 1929. This union was blessed with 4 children, June, Susan, James and Lorry. Ida and Jim made their home in Chicago where they worked and raised their family. In 1976, they retired to Cotter, Arkansas. After the death of her husband in 1980, Ida moved to Seward. Ida was a faithful worshiper and member for 25 years of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and also a member of St. John Ladies Aid. She will be best remembered by her friends and family for her German rye bread, her love of music and singing, her love of reading, plus the many handcrafted gifts she shared over the years. Ida was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilhelm and Caroline (nee Chella) Hirsch; her brothers and spouses, Karl and Erna Hirsch, Otto and Anna Hirsch, Wilhelm and Irma Hirsch, Frederick Hirsch; her sister and spouse, Frieda and Lyle Wilkins; her daughter-in-law, Mary Temenak; and her husband of 51 years, James John Temenak. She is survived by: her children and their spouses, June and Bob Schoder, Aurora, IL; Susan and Dan Remus, Plainfield, IL; James Temenak, Poway, CA; Lorry and Wayne Dinkelman, Seward, NE; her 10 grandchildren, Michael Schoder, Roberta (Carl) Abele, Carol (Joseph) Kotas; Caroline (Jamey) Mack, Gerald (Rachel) Remus, Claire Remus; James (Amy) Temenak, Melissa (David) Blake; and Brian (Jennifer) Dinkelman, Jeff Dinkelman; her 11 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Matthew and Charles Abele; Jakob and Alexander Kotas, Daniel and Genevieve Mack, Samuel Remus, Sloane Blake, Avah Beiswenger and Samuel Dinkelman; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Hirsch, .
