Irene Catherine Dorothy (Mumm) Gieselman was born March 11, 1922 in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Hans Detlef and Ida Antonio Dorthea (Hansen) Mumm and passed away on February 13, 2014 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 11 months, 2 days. Irene was baptized on April 2, 1922. She attended a rural school near Bloomfield and was a 1940 graduate of Bloomfield High School. She received a teaching certificate from Wayne State College and prior to her marriage taught school for several years. On March 15, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Elmer Levern Gieselman in Bloomfield. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Janet, Jean and Terry. Irene was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield for many years. Elmer passed away on July 9, 1990 and Irene moved to Heartland Park in Seward in April of 2007. Following her move to Seward she became a member of St. John Lutheran Church, LWL/Ladies Aid and the Quilting Group Comforters. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Ida Mumm; her husband, Elmer Gieselman and her brothers, Lyle Mumm, Alvin Mumm, Aaron Mumm, Clarence Mumm, and Harry Mumm. Survivors cherishing Irene's memory include her children and spouses, Janet Skoog, of Phoenix, AZ; Jean and David Jones, Seward, NE; Terry and Susan Gieselman of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren, John Jones and Michelle Kladakis, Anne Jones and Dan Gonzales, Jill (Skoog) and Steve Eckerman, Ben and Karen Skoog, Molly Skoog, Jason Gieselman, Jacob Gieselman and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tavian, Cleia and Tessa Jones, Ella and Ethan Eckerman, Katelyn and Isabella Skoog; brother and sister-in-law George and Pauline Mumm of West Bend, WI; brother-in-law Vernon Gieselman of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law Laura Gieselman and Rachel Carlow both of Bloomfield, NE; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
