Irene Elizabeth (Ost) Kirch was born on February 28, 1921 in Seward, Nebraska to Carl David and Ottilie Tillie Matilda (Krueger) Ost and passed away on January 21, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 21 days. Irene taught school in Norfolk, Nebraska before her marriage. On July 24, 1940, Irene was united in marriage to Martin B. Kirch in Seward. Their marriage was blessed with five daughters, Sandra, Marcia, Carla, Tonya and Ronda. Irene also taught school in El Sereno and Temple City, California before the family moved to Seward in 1956. She resumed her college education and graduated from Concordia Teachers College in 1971. The couple traveled extensively to many counties in the world. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Martin B. Kirch in 1995; her parents, Carl and Tillie Ost;her daughter, Carla Kirch; her brother, Robert Ost and son-in-law, Michael Woodburn. Irene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bob Horn of San Antonio, Texas, Marcia and Gerry Schultz of Seward, Tonya Woodburn of Houston, Texas and Ronda and Michael Konst of Kuwait; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Roberta Ost, Fremont, California; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
