Iva Lee (Mulder) Yelkin was born October 15, 1925 in Panama, Nebraska to Cornelius S. and Henrietta (Kroese) Mulder and died peacefully at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by her family on January 29, 2010 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 14 days.
Iva was a 1942 graduate of Panama High School in Panama, Nebraska. She was a graduate of Peru State College and taught school at Bennet, Utica and Waverly, Nebraska. Iva was united in marriage to Edwin Theodore Yelkin on September 23, 1951 at the home of her parents in Panama. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Lois, Sue, Sally and Michael. Iva was a longtime resident of Lincoln. She formerly attended Vine Congregational Church and was currently a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church. She was employed in the women's clothing and notions departments with Miller and Paine and Dillards.
Iva is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Henrietta Mulder; her husband, Edwin T. Yelkin in 1970; brother, Robert Mulder; sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Paul Liesveld; brother-in-law, Keith DeBoer; and a niece, Karen DeBoer.
Iva is survived by her children, Lois and her husband, Jim Dietsch, Seward, Sue Yelkin, Minneapolis, Sally Yelkin and partner, Amy Spomer, Minneapolis, Michael Yelkin, Lincoln; grandchildren, Emily and Joe Sykora and their children, Kory and Nathan, Adam Dietsch, Jana Dietsch; sister, Helen DeBoer, Panama, NE; sister-in-law, Joan Mulder, Omaha; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Iva.
