Ivan Dwaine Dvorak was born on August 17, 1953, in Seward to Mike J. and Bessie (Bohac) Dvorak and passed away on March 16, 2015, in Seward at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 27 days. He grew up in Seward where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1972. He then attended Southeast Community College and graduated in 1974. Ivan was united in marriage to Louise Mae Foster on June 28, 1975, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses. To this union two daughters were born Shannon and Amy. Ivan began working at Hughes Brothers on March 6, 1978. He just completed his 37th year of service to the company. Ivan also umpired for fast pitch and slow pitch softball for 30 years. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004 then retired from umpiring . Ivan enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, gardening and watching his favorite NASCAR drivers, Dale Sr., Dale Jr., and Jeff Gordon. Ivan was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Isaak Walton League, the American Softball Association and a few years in the Jaycees. Ivan was preceded in death by his father, Mike; brothers-in-law Dale Kliment, Marvin Strizek and Steve Foster, son-in-law Chuck Nelson. Ivan is survived by his wife Louise Dvorak, two daughters, Shannon Dvorak of Seward, and Amy Johnson and husband Jonathan of Milford, five grandchildren, Alishea Johnson, Jill Johnson, Kaylie Nelson, Tammy Johnson and Trevor Nelson, his mother Bessie Dvorak of Valparaiso and three siblings, Delores Strizek and Beverly Kliment, both of Valparaiso and Larry Dvorak and wife Kathy of Pleasant Dale.
