James Allan Sommerfeld was born March 27, 1948 in Wayne, Nebraska, the son of Roy Harry and Helen Wilhelminnie (Steffen) Sommerfeld. Jim passed away on November 6, 2010 at his home in Seward, Nebraska surrounded by his family and friends; at the age of 62 years, 7 months, 10 days. Jim was a graduate of Wayne High School and a 1971 graduate of Wayne State College. On June 14, 1975 Jim was united in marriage to Judy Endicott in Seward, Nebraska; they lived all of their married life in Seward. Jim dedicated his professional life to the field of education as a teacher at Seward High School for 32 years where he taught Industrial Arts, Mechanical Drafting and Drivers Education. After retirement in 2003, Jim worked for Pac N Save Grocery in Seward. He attended the Seward United Methodist Church. Jim loved his family and friends, but most of all he lived for his seven grandkids and cruising in his 55 Chevy. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Sommerfeld; father-in-law, Russell Endicott and brother-in-law, Rodney Jorgensen. Survivors left to cherish Jim's memory include his wife, Judy Sommerfeld of Seward; his daughter and son-in-law, Chas and Jeff Bluhm of Milford, his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Kari Sommerfeld of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Bethany Troyer, Sierra Bluhm, Britton Troyer, Bryli Troyer, Dalton Bluhm, Jacob Sommerfeld, and Lainey Sommerfeld; his sister, Cynthia Jorgensen of Lincoln; brothers and sister-in-law, special Ed Sommerfeld of Seward, Kirk and Ardie Sommerfeld of Wayne; his mother-in-law, Betty Endicott of Seward; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Nancy Endicott of Wayne, Linda and Steve Schmidt of Lincoln, Rick and Connie Endicott of Seward, Kelly and Jim Dingwell of Lincoln; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jim. |
