James L. Bartek was born on July 13, 1947, in Prague, NE; to Frank and Frances (Koranda) Bartek and passed away on March 30, 2016, at his home near Dwight, NE; at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 17 days. Jim was raised in the Valparaiso, NE area where he attended school and graduated in the class of 1965.
Jim farmed and raised cattle and hogs all of his life in the Valparaiso and Dwight area until he retired in 2001. Jim enjoyed listening to Polka music, dancing, and playing cards. He loved building fence and to prove it just look at the fence around his pasture. Jim liked watching WWE smack down, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. He also enjoyed going to machinery and livestock sales, but nothing compared to fishing with his grandkids, which he loved very much. Jim and Elaine attended Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers, Frank Jr., Donald P. Bartek, sister, Delores Ratkovec.
Jim is survived by two brothers, Ron Bartek and wife Cheryl of Valparaiso, NE; Dennis Bartek and wife Christine of Brainard, NE; brother-in-law Gordon Ratkovec of Weston, NE; his significant other, Elaine Janak of Dwight, NE; extended family, Sandy, Kary, Robin, Sara Stanek of Brainard, NE; Dan Janak and fiancé Kara Miller, and Nicole of Seward, Tyson and Lacey Wren of Seward, NE; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
