James Benedict Pavel was born January 6, 1928 near Dwight, Nebraska, the son of James Albert and Lillian (Pelan) Pavel and passed away on July 16, 2015 in David City, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 6 months, 10 days. Jim attended country school district #73 near Dwight. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January 24, 1952 to December 11, 1953. Jim was united in marriage to Leona Ann Brousek on October 23, 1957 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with one son, James. Jim was a farmer in the Dwight area all of his life. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, FCSLA (Catholic Workman) and Dwight American Legion Post #110. Jim was an avid toy collector. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Lillian Pavel; his wife, Leona Pavel in 2006; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Ann Brousek; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Leonard Niemann; brothers-in-law, Ernie Kotera and Victor Brousek. Survivors cherishing Jim's memory include his son, Jim Pavel, Omaha; sister, Dorothy Kotera, Seward; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Marcie Brousek, Omaha, Francis and Joan Pavel, Waverly, Jerry and Phyllis Swanda, Brainard; nieces and nephews; special friends and care-givers, Bud and Donna Sisel, Ed and Shelly Trojan, Travis Trojan and a host of friends.
