James "Jim" B. Runyan was born December 16th 1955 in Lincoln Nebraska to James B. and Caryl (Besse) Runyan. Jim attended school in Hawaii and was a 1973 graduate of Kailua High School. He graduated from the University of the Pacific with a degree in psychology. He was united in marriage to Laurie Crawford Berguson on October 16, 1983 in San Francisco.
Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a devoted husband, he treasured family and friends, and loved sharing stories. To know Jim was to know the nicest, kindest man you could hope to meet. He had a gentle, welcoming voice that made people feel at ease. He took his work seriously and rose to the top of his profession spending the past several years as a Senior Vice President at Zurich Insurance. For as hard as he worked, Jim also focused on having fun and enjoying the treasures life has to offer. He loved bluegrass, playing his guitar and banjo, his connection to Hawaii, and swapping jokes and stories with family and friends.
Jim passed away on Tuesday, October 31st 2017 at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 15 days.
Survivors include, wife, Laurie Crawford Runyan, Omaha; father, Jim Runyan, Ruidoso, NE; stepfather, Lloyd Schulz, Goehner; siblings (spouses): Deb Rogers, Omaha, Lori Schulz, Goehner, Patrick (Kathy) Runyan, Seward; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jane D. and Michael E. Cook, Peru, IN, Beth Warner Ferrari and Philip Ferrari, Dayton, OH, Ben Rogers, Omaha; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
