James Robert Settle was born on June 4, 1956, in Queens, New York to William Leon and Grace Catherine (Torrey) Settle and passed away on March 25, 2025, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Jim grew up in Queens, New York. He worked numerous jobs while in New York and Florida including his coffee business, limousine driver, and paper carrier. Jim met Donna Gehle in 2002, then made the move to Nebraska. The couple was united in marriage on April 30, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. They lived on the farm before moving into Seward in 2020.

Jim and Donna enjoyed gambling and going to horse races. He was a faithful fan of the New York Jets, New York Mets and the Miami Hurricanes. He loved Elvis Presley and had a large collection of Elvis memorabilia. Jim also loved his beloved dog, Fargo. In his later years, he found Jesus through devotions with Donna.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers, Wayne and Duane Settle.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Donna Settle, Seward; stepchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Gehle, Lincoln, Sonya (Toby) Garcia, Meeker, CO; step grandchildren, Deacon Gehle, Hunter Garcia, Hayden Garcia and Hoyt Garcia; sisters, Patricia Settle and Diane Caccavale, both of Florida; brother, Billy Settle, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
