James William Sommerer was born June 8, 1932 in Craig, Nebraska, the son of William Allen and Ethel Lorraine (Wedegren) Sommerer and passed away on October 6, 2013 at his home in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 3 months, 28 days. James was a graduate of Uehling High School. On July 17, 1971 James was united in marriage to Helen Ann Anderson in Seward, Nebraska and they made their home in Seward all of their married life. James was employed with Seward Propane for 30 years; he also managed Twin Oaks Trailer Court for 22 years and was the owner of Jim's Digging and Mowing for several years. James was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church, the NRA and was a past president and member of the Eagles Club in Seward. James was always a fond supporter of Special Olympics. James is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Sommerer; his brother, Ronald Sommerer and his brother-in-law, Clarence "Bud" Mock. James is survived by his wife, Helen Sommerer of Seward; children and spouses, Melody Yeary, Joliet, IL, Valerie Spanos-Sommerer, Joliet, IL, Christina and Roger Maner, DawsonVille, GA, Steven and Jewel Shultz, Wilson, KS; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Rollie and Marcia Sommerer, Omaha; sister, Donna Mock, Tekamah; sister-in-law, Marlene Sommerer, Omaha; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
