Janet was baptized into the Christian faith at an early age. She grew up in Nelson, Nebraska where she was active in school and church activities. She was a 1980 graduate of Nelson High School. Janet received a degree in dental assisting from Southeast Community College and worked at the University of Nebraska Lincoln College of Dentistry. Janet was united in marriage to Martin James Rowland on May 19, 1984, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior. To this blessed union were born three children, Caitlin, Sean and Trace. Janet enjoyed traveling extensively while her husband served in the Army. She especially liked camping and trips to the Maryland seashore. In 1992, the family moved to Milford and became active participants in community life. Janet returned to school in 1996 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, earning her associate degree in 1998 and graduating with honors. She continued to work at Seward Memorial Hospital even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2005. She felt a special bond with the cancer patients with whom she worked. Janet battled cancer courageously and savored life fiercely, becoming an inspiration to her family and friends for the grace with which she lived and died. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward. Janet was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father-in-law, John P. Rowland. Janet is survived by her husband, Martin J.
