Jean Joseph Coffey was born July 7, 1917 to Jeremiah Edward and Mary Helen (Hannon) Coffey, on a farm near Seward, Nebraska. Jean passed away on April 3, 2010 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 8 months, 27 days. He attended rural elementary school and Seward High School. He served in World War II, 1942-1945, in the United States Army Air Force. Following the war Jean did farm work, masonry and was employed by the Nebraska State Department of Roads for 29 years. He was a life member of Gerald E. Coffey VFW Post #4755, Seward, Nebraska. Jean is preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Mary Helen Coffey; his brothers, Gerald, Leonard, Robert and Lawrence Coffey; his sisters, Helen and Virginia Coffey, Florence Aime, Frances Varner, Marjorie Draper, Lucille Fletcher, Elizabeth Paden, and Lois Hallahan. Also preceding him in death were two nephews, Richard Varner and Michael Hallahan and a niece, Rita Anderson. Jean is survived by his sister, Regina Coffey; nephews, Ronald and Carol Varner, Tom Varner, Dale Anderson; nieces, Sandra Ross, Joan and Norman Miers, Barbara and Michael Demuth, Joan Varner and several out of state nephews and nieces and many friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jean. |
