Jean Lorraine Parks was born August 30, 1915 near Ulysses, Nebraska to Thomas D. & Clara Belle (Dunlap) Parks and passed away at Norfolk, Nebraska on July 17, 2008 at the age of 92 years, 10 months, 18 days. Jean was a 1933 graduate of Ulysses High School, a graduate of the Lincoln General School of Nursing and the University of Minnesota. She served for over twenty years in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. earning the rank of Major. Following her retirement, Jean moved to California and later to Seward where she continued her work as a registered nurse. Jean was a member of Seward United Methodist Church and a former member of the Seward Womens Club. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #33 and the VFW Post #4755. Jean was also a member of the Retired Officers Association as well as the Retired Army Nurses Corp. Association She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Keith Parks; brother, Charles Parks; sister, Rachel Walsh. Jean is survived by her nephews & spouses, Rev. Allen E. & Marilyn Parks of Ft. Wayne, IN, Patrick Walsh of Seward, NE, Thomas D. Parks of Yuma, CO: nieces & spouses, Rita & Jim Trimble of Richmond, VA, Kae D. Huggins of Durham, NC, Shelley & Michael Freudenburg of Norfolk, NE; To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jean. |
