Obituary

Jeanne Vernelle (Cook) Walsh was born July 1, 1925 in Shelby, Nebraska the daughter of Jesse and Hattie (Miller) Cook and passed away in Milford, Nebraska on March 11, 2017 at the age of 91 years, 8 months, 10 days. Jeanne was a 1942 graduate of Shelby High School. On November 21, 1946 Jeanne was united in marriage to Edward V. Walsh, Jr., in Belleville, Kansas and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Edward Vincent III (E.V.) and Jesse Randolph (J.R.). Jeanne was a rural school teacher, stenographer with Northrup Aviation in Los Angeles and then spent many years as a secretary at Concordia Teachers College (now University), with the State of Nebraska and also Protective Fire and Casualty. Jeanne was a longtime member of the Seward United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was also a Trustee. She served on the Seward City Planning Commission. Jeanne was extensively involved in researching family genealogy and was a professional quilter.

Preceding Jeanne in death were her parents, Jesse and Hattie Cook; sister, Doris Carter and her daughter, Carol Zivanovic; sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and Clyde Swickard and their son, Monte Swickard.

Survivors cherishing Jeanne's memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, E.V. and Susan Walsh, Seward and J.R. and Laurie Walsh, Inglis, Florida; seven grandchildren, Vince Walsh, J.B. Walsh, Liz Troyer, Aaron Walsh, Rachael Lively, Jesse Walsh, Jacob Walsh; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jeanne.
