Jeannette Ost was born June 9, 1906 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Ana (Scherer) Stevens and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on March 25, 2007 at the age of 100 years, 9 months, 16 days. At the age of eight years Jeannette came to Seward on the Orphan Train and made her home with the L.E. Ost family. She attended the Seward Schools and was a 1926 graduate of Seward High School. She worked at the Bakery and for many years at the Gass Furniture Store in Seward. On October 7, 1936, Jeannette ws united in marriage to Lester Edward Ost at Minden, Nebraska. Jeannette enjoyed walking and was an avid golfer, continuing with golf until she was 85 years of age. In July of 1997, Jeannette moved to Sundermann Home in Seward. Jeannette was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seward. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester, in 1982; and her sister, Dorothy Anderson. Jeannette is survived by her nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jeannette. |
