Jerald "Jerry" D. Vrana, 74, of Tomah passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. He was born January 21, 1937 to Anton and Florence (Walker) Vrana in their home in rural Bee, NE. Jerry was a member of the Seward High School Graduating Class of 1954. He was united in marriage to Sondra McCaslin on September 22, 1962 at the United Presbyterian Church in Omaha, NE. Jerry and his wife owned and operated the Vrana Drywall Company for many years until his retirement when his son Tony took over the operations. Jerry was a carpenter who enjoyed working with his hands and built many homes. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending his time fishing, hunting, and water skiing. He enjoyed his morning Dr. Pepper and visiting with his friends at Smoke's Elbow Room. He was a member of the Hiawatha Golf Club, he belonged to the men's golf league, and was on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed travelling to different golf courses with his golf buddies. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, brother, and grandpa. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play golf, basketball, and soccer. He is survived by his wife, Sondra, 4 children: Jim Vrana, Tony and his wife Deb Vrana, Cindy and her husband Chad Clay all of Tomah and Tanya Vrana of Denver, CO., 4 grandchildren Cody and Carly Clay, Ethan and Kayce Vrana, his 2 brothers and sisters-in-law Verlon and Elaine Vrana of Seward, NE, Donald and Gladys Vrana of Syracuse, NE, and his twin sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Larry Sorge, of Merced, CA,his 2 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mike and Ginny McCaslin of North Augusta, S.C., many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Florence Vrana, a brother David Gene Vrana, his sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Eddie Soucek, his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Edith McCaslin, and a niece Mindy McCaslin.
