Joan C. Miers was born on November 10, 1937, in Seward County to Charlie and Margaret Frances (Coffey) Varner and passed away on January 25, 2026, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 15 days.

Joan graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1956. She was united in marriage to Norman Miers on March 17, 1957, at the United Brethren Church in Seward, Nebraska and to this union four sons were born, Jeffrey, Gary, Tim and Greg. The couple lived all their married life in Seward. Joan was employed for 30 years at Goodyear.

Joan enjoyed time spent at their cabin on the West Blue River. She loved playing horseshoes and spending time with family. Joan enjoyed Husker sports, wintering in South Padre, watching NASCAR, and was an avid fan of the Lakers and Yankees. She also loved playing video poker and streaming Seward High School sports.

Joan took girl trips with her sister, Barb and Barb's daughters for over 20 years. She also enjoyed hosting coffee Sundays with family. Joan loved bird watching, receiving flowers and special visits from family and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her son, Tim Miers; her parents; brothers, Richard and Gerald Varner; sister, Rita (Dale) Anderson; nephews, Steve Anderson and Sean Varner; parents-in-law, Glen and Bess Miers; sisters-in-law, LaVonne (Bob) Graff, Alberta (Jim) Davenport; brother-in-law, Dean (Virginia) Miers.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her husband, Norman Miers of almost 69 years; sons, Jeff Miers, Gary Miers and Greg Miers, all of Seward; daughter-in-law, Lisa Miers; grandchildren, Justin Miers and Cassandra Nuttleman; great-granddaughter, Faith Hugelman; sister, Barbara (Michael) Demuth; brothers, Ron (Carol) Varner and Tom Varner; sister-in-law, Joan Varner and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
