JoAnn (Howe) Hansen was born June 8, 1933 in David City, Nebraska to Dale LeRoy and Lois Opal (Foster) Howe and passed away on June 26, 2006 at her home in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 18 days. JoAnn attended country school south of David City and was a 1951 graduate of David City High School and attended Doane College for one year. She worked for Consumers Public Power District in Lincoln prior to her marriage. On May 22, 1955, JoAnn was united in marriage to Ralph Leland Hansen in David City, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, Judy and Gregg. JoAnn and Ralph lived in Wilber after their marriage, and then moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa for 6 years where JoAnn was secretary of the Missouri Valley Methodist Church. They lived in David City for 2 years and then moved to Seward in July of 1964. JoAnn worked for Seward Building and Loan for 16 years as a teller. She was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of O.E.S. in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She belonged to an Extension Club in Seward and also several bridge groups and had served as a 4-H Club Leader. She was a member of Parkinsons Disease support groups in Lincoln and York.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Lois Howe. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Hansen, Seward; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roger Spiehs, Lincoln and grandson, Joel Spiehs; her son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Grace Hansen, San Diego, California; her brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Jana Howe, Eagle and Jerry and Jane Howe, Beaver Lake; nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Garlyn Hansen, Denver, Colorado and a host of friends.
