JoAnne Shirley Adamek was born on January 13, 1932, in Vienna, South Dakota to Ernest and Hazel (Schenck) Knadle and passed away on January 9, 2025, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 27 days.
JoAnne was baptized on October 8, 1949, and confirmed on October 9, 1949, both in Vienna, South Dakota. She attended Vienna High School in South Dakota, graduating with the class of 1950. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked as a telephone operator at Nebraska Telephone Company.
After JoAnne married Jim Adamek on October 19, 1952, in Vienna, South Dakota, they moved to Key West, Florida where Jim served in the US Navy. After he was discharged, they moved to Nebraska in 1954. They raised their four children in Nebraska before moving to Boulder, Colorado where JoAnne was employed at IBM. JoAnne and Jim retired in Bella Vista, Arkansas. After Jim's passing, JoAnne moved to Seward, Nebraska.
JoAnne enjoyed quilting, basket weaving, sewing, playing mahjong and spending time with her grandkids. JoAnne blessed her family with a multitude of quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hazel Knadle; husband, Jim Adamek; son, Bradley James Adamek; grandson, Jesse Adamek; brothers, Gene, Bill, Randy and Terry; and sister, Sheila.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children, Craig and Annie Adamek, Seward, Todd and Jeannette Adamek, Seward, Holly Adamek, Louisville, CO, Andra and James Downie, Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren: Amber and Jeromy Rowse, Alex Adamek, Austin and Megan Adamek, Garrett and Taylor Adamek, Skyler and Alex Thompson, Jenna and Chase McPherson, Devan and Jesse Kajer, Luke Downie, Christopher Downie, Madeline and Adam Zukowski; great-grandchildren: Zayne Rowse, Claire Adamek, Charlie McPherson, Harper McPherson and Valtteri Kajer; numerous other family members.
