John Daniel Jack Gill was born February 22, 1928 in Friend, Nebraska to John James and Margaret Mary (Eisenbarth) Gill and passed away on August 1, 2006 at his home in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 5 months, 8 days. Jack was a 1945 graduate of Friend High School; he attended the Industrial Training Institute of Chicago. Jack was united in marriage to Frances Arlene Wachter on February 7, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children. They farmed from 1950-1955 and from 1956-1975 Jack was the owner of Gills TV and Appliance Sales and Service in Seward. Jack served as Seward County Clerk, Register of Deeds and Election Commissioner from 1975-1987. From 1988 until his retirement in 2000, Jacks profession was real estate sales. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 8469. He was also a 25 -year member of the Seward Volunteer Fire Department, serving one term as assistant chief and served on the Seward City Council from 1966-1970. Jack had been an amateur radio operator general class since 1960.

Preceding Jack in death were his parents; his brother, Timothy Gill and twin infant granddaughters.

Jack is survived by his wife, Frances Gill, Seward; sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Diane Gill of Malcolm, James Gill of Scottsdale, AZ, Daniel and Leslie Gill of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and W.E. Rod Held, Santa Claus, IN; 11 grandchildren, John A. Gill and wife Kris, Jeffrey Gill and wife Amy, Kevin Gill, Natalie Roche and husband Brian, Anne Gill Bloyer and husband Jason, Linda Ekong and husband Eric, Phillip Held and wife Stacey, Danielle Held, Joshua, Brittany and Trevor Gill; 8 great-grandchildren, John P. and Emily Gill, Jacob and Anna Gill, Hannah, Jonathan and Hailey Ekong and Ella Held; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane Croissant, Lincoln, Peg and Don Schernikau, Beaver Crossing, Colleen and John Rotter, Littleton, CO; sister-in-law, Marion Gill, Friend; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
