In Loving Memory John M. "Jack" Sanley John Menken Sanley was born February 19, 1928 in Seward, Nebraska to John Thomas and Mercedes Edith (Taege) Sanley and passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in David City, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 11 months, 28 days. Jack was a 1945 graduate of Ulysses High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from March 20, 1946 through January 16, 1948. On September 12, 1948, Jack was united in marriage to Marial Jean Pollock at the Ulysses Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Linda, Jeanie and Kip. Jack was the owner/operator of the Sportsman Bar in Ulysses for 30 years and was also a U.S. Postal Service rural mail carrier. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church, Seward VFW Post No. 4755 and Dwight American Legion Post No. 110. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Mercedes Sanley; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Duane "Buck" Aldrich; and his son-in-law, Norbert Abelo. Jack is survived by his wife, Jean Sanley, Ulysses; his daughter, Linda Abelo, Bar Nunn, WY; his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Bruce Winter, Omaha; his son and daughter-in-law, Kip and Marsha Sanley, Elkhorn; grandchildren, Nicholas Abelo, Jonathan Abelo, Justin and Krystal Winter, Emily and Matt Hamilton, John and Danielle Winter, John Sanley, Jay Sanley; great-granddaughter, Harper Winter; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
