John Robert Keller was born January 13, 1932 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Robert and Edith (Black) Keller and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on July 19, 2009 at the age of 77 years, 6 months, 6 days. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1949 and later attended Wayne State Teachers college and Phillips University for a short time. In 1952, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed at Parks Air Force Base in California and later transferred to Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma. On April 18, 1953, John married Palma Kay Wragge at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler. To this union three children were born, Robert, Wendi and Jon. After his discharge from the service in 1956, they moved to Seward where he went into business with his brother, Russell at the Seward Tire and Battery Shop. He worked there until his retirement in 1999. John was a long time member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Seward Volunteer Fire Department, the Rescue Squad and the Seward Jaycees. He sold real estate and was a tax consultant for many years. John enjoyed traveling, playing cards, listening to polka music and growing geraniums and roses. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Keller; his twin sister who died at birth; brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Betty (Gaeth) Keller and sister-in-law, Marion (Wurst) Keller. John is survived by his wife, Palma "Kay" Keller of Seward; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Denise Keller of Plano, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Wendi and Bill Hiller of Marion, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kristine Keller of Haverhill, MA; five granddaughters; one step-granddaughter and one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Keller of Seward; sister-in-law, and spouse, Joyce and Ed Schaefer of Broken Arrow, OK; sister-in-law, Georgene Cowden of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law, and spouse, Walter and Lois Wragge of Sheridan, WY; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our many memories of life shared with John. |
