John David Soukup was born May 6, 1945 on a farm near Dwight, Nebraska to Joseph Francis and Lillian Agnes (Sisel) Soukup and passed away at his home near Dwight, Nebraska on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the age of 65 years, 11 months, 2 days. John attended District No. 73 country school through 8th grade, Assumption High School for two years and was a 1963 graduate of East Butler High School. He served his country in the U. S. Army National Guard. On March 17, 1973, John was united in marriage to Denice Diane Korbel in Dwight, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children, John David, Julie and Jessica. John was employed with Goodyear in Lincoln for 35 years and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. John also farmed near Dwight. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and Dwight American Legion Post No. 110.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Lillian A. Soukup; his sister, Lillian M. Soukup; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Ida Korbel; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dallas and Vickie Korbel and Alvin Korbel.
John is survived by his wife, Denice Soukup, Dwight; children, John David Soukup, Dwight, Julie Soukup, Lincoln, Jessica and Brent Orta, Lincoln; grandchildren, Blaine Orta, Alyssa and Abbie Ahrens, Connor Rosendale; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Mary Soukup, Dwight, sisters and brother-in-law, Eileen Soukup and Don Belik, Lincoln, Pam and Greg Pleskac, Dwight; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn Korbel, Conover, NC, Karen and Milt Walbridge, Lincoln; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with John.
