Obituary

Joseph Corbit Rice was born September 19, 1932 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Kenneth Sinclair Rice and Hattie Lois (McMaster) Rice and passed away on February 2, 2017 in David City, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 4 months, 14 days.  Joe served in the U.S. Navy from June 6, 1950 to August 18, 1953.  He was a life-member of Seward VFW Post #4755 and Dwight American Legion Post #110.  When Joe was living in Lincoln, he worked for Lincoln Welding Supply.  Joe moved to Phoenix, later moving to Tucson, Arizona where he worked for Pima Welding Company where he retired.  He moved to Bee, Nebraska after retirement.

Joe was united in marriage to Janet Allane (Smith) Crocker on January 26, 2007 and they made their home in Ulysses, Nebraska.  Joe had many hobbies which included woodworking, metal work, model boat building and leather craft.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Hattie Rice.

Joe's survivors include his wife, Jan of Ulysses; his children: Connie (Dean) Born, Slidell, LA; Cheryl Fahee, Lincoln, NE; Ken (Amy) Rice, Grand Junction, CO; sister, Shirley Yarbrough, Mesa, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.  Additional survivors, Jan's children: Jay L. Pavey, Lincoln, NE; Joy Lynn Pavey, Ulysses, NE; Jean Manley, Council Bluffs, IA and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
