Joseph Gary "Joie" Cihal, Jr. was born to Joseph and Sylvia (Eret) Cihal on April 29, 1948, at David City and joined his Heavenly Father on September 28, 2025, at Bryan West in Lincoln at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 30 days.
Joie grew up in the Dwight area where he attended Assumption Elementary and later graduated from East Butler. After graduating, he was in the Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Colleen Ehman, and they were blessed with two daughters. Joie farmed with his father in the Dwight area and later worked at the Henningson Egg Plant in David City until retirement. He also enjoyed helping others during harvest time. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting toy cars and mugs, time with his friends, praying while watching EWTN, and spending time with his cat, Stormy.
Joie is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Lou Kobza and Nadine Ann Dobesh-Hruska.
Joie is survived by his two daughters, Courtney (Brian) Urbanek and Katie Cihal; two grandsons, Christian Urbanek and Patrick Urbanek; sister, Joyce Marie Krska; nieces, nephews, and cousins. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Joie.
