Joseph Anton Tichy was born October 21, 1921 east of Dwight, Nebraska on the family farm. Joseph was one of eight children born to Joseph Anton, Sr. and Rose (Buresh) Tichy. Joe passed away on April 24, 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 6 months, 3 days. Joe attended rural school district No. 55 near Dwight. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He farmed on the family farm all of his life and for many years worked side by side with his sister Wilma. After his move to Seward he enjoyed meeting his new neighbors. Joe enjoyed attending weekly cattle auctions and farmland sales where he had many conversations and developed new friendships. He enjoyed buying calves and raising them, giving them names and calling them so they would come to him. Joe especially enjoyed his outside pets and his cat--Sugar. He loved to repair and tinker with his farm equipment. Many of his nieces and nephews looked forward to spending summer vacation on the farm, where Joe would teach them about farm life, how to drive a tractor and bale hay. Joe also had a love for Czech music. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Anton, Sr. and Rose Tichy; his sisters, Alice Pacula, Adeline Dvoracek and Wilma Tichy. Joe is survived by his brother, Frank Tichy of Bee, his sisters, Helen Mach, Anne Scharf and Rosie Matulka, all of Lincoln; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Joe. |
