Joy Frances Russell was born September 3, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to Rudolph & Della Berger and went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer on June 3, 2009 at the age of 82 years and 9 months . Joy was a graduate of the Omaha South High School. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 331 where she served as Past President. Joy enjoyed bowling, Husker football, going to the casinos and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Della Berger; son, Lyle "Butch" Russell; son-in-law, Donald Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Smith and Sharon Wadland both of Ulysses; grandsons and family, Jeff and Brandy Smith of Lincoln and their children, Zachary, Desirae and Cameron; Greg and Sheryl Smith of Ulysses and their daughter, Katie; granddaughters and family, Shelly and Joe Soukup of Ulysses and their children, Sidney, Madison and Reese; Nicole Smith and special friend, Kristy Vlasak of Lincoln, Kara Miller and special friend Dan Janak of Seward and daughter, Danielle; To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Joy. |
