Joy Ann Shook was born on December 10, 1969, in Seward, Nebraska to Donald Edward and Betty Lou (O'Dell) Shook and passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln on January 1, 2024, at the age of 54 years and 22 days.
Joy grew up in Seward where she attended Seward High School. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and volunteering at various places. Joy worked for several years at Auntie Annie's Pretzels in Lincoln. She was a person with a big heart and had never met a stranger. This helped her as a volunteer for many years at the Salvation Army. Her love of her family was immeasurable, especially for her daughter and many nieces and nephews. Joy was very proud of her participation in the Special Olympics.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jeffrey; grandparents, John and Nellie O'Dell; two uncles, Dennis O'Dell and Dick O'Dell; two nephews, Gary Shook and Dustin Shook; aunt, Becky Sampson; uncle, Bill O'Dell.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her daughter, Stephanie Holmes, Mesa, AZ; siblings, Jay and wife, Tammy Shook, Lincoln, Judy Shook, North Platte, Jerry Shook, Hastings, and Jenny Shook and husband Justin Lovell, Lincoln; aunts and uncles, Tom O'Dell, Ron O'Dell, Sharon O'Dell, Debby O'Dell, Karen O'Dell, Margie O'Dell and Tom Sampson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
