Joye Clarice Gillan was born on February 22, 1935, in Seward to Paul Adolph and Florence Martha (Guenther) Wullbrandt and passed away at her home on October 23, 2012, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 1 day. Joye grew up in Seward and graduated from Seward High School with the class of 1952. In her younger years she was very active in 4-H and then became an assistant leader. She was award the best 4-Her where she received a cedar chest. Many of her record books were given to the Ag Pavilion for use and display. She attended Lincoln School of Commerce for two years. She worked at Vahl's Drug Store for several years as a soda jerk. On December 25, 1961, she married Robert Gillan in Goehner, NE. After their marriage they owned Gillan's cafe (Cafe on the Square) for five years. Then later she worked at Mueri Drug which as she said, that was her best job ever. Joye loved working for Mike. Joye enjoyed watching her children in their activities while they were growing up which included Band, Football and basketball. She enjoyed traveling to see her kids in Las Vegas and Virginia. She loved reading, collecting beanie babies and of course the 4th of July. Joye is survived by her children, Barbara Jean (Douglas) Billesbach of Auburn, NE; Mark Alan (Valeri) Gillan of Lynchburg, VA; Matthew Don (Mary Kay) Gillan of Lincoln, NE; Brenda Sue (Robert) Mentzel of Las Vegas, NV; Tracy Jo (Troy) Neujahr of Aurora, NE; Tonya Lea (Brian) Jaco of Council Bluffs, IA; sister Leah Oswald (Ron) of Milford, NE; Grandchildren Nickolas & Robert Gillan, Elizabeth, Courtney, and Benjamin Billesbach, Thomas, Maura and Samuel Gillan, Austin Gillan and Morgan Jaco. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, October 1, 1996, daughter, Belle Ann in 1966, grandson Shawn Gillan in 1995 and brother Royce Wullbrandt in 2012.
