Julie Ann Hafer was born on August 12, 1936, in Milford to Ezra U. and Mattie Elizabeth (Eicher) Roth and passed away on January 30, 2018, in Lincoln at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 18 days. Julie grew up in the Milford area where she attended school. After school she worked as a waitress in Seward.
On October 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Hafer in Seward. The couple lived in New Jersey where Kenneth was stationed at Fort Monmouth Army Base. They were later transferred to Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon his honorable discharge the couple returned to Seward. Julie was a stay at home mom to her five children for about 15 years. She then worked at Johnson's café and later at Metro Mail where she retired in the late 1990s. In their retirement they enjoyed traveling to see their kids and enjoyed being grandma and grandpa. She took pride in her cooking and baking, she cooked and baked frequently for others. Her main focus was on her family and grandchildren. Julie was a long time member of the Seward United Methodist Church, in her young adulthood she was active in Bible School and United Methodist Women. She and her girlfriends enjoyed their weekly bowling, to include attending many state bowling tournaments.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 2000; step mother, Susan Roth; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Barb Roth; brothers-in-law, Ralph Schweitzer and Darold Burkey.
Julie is survived by her five children and their spouses, Laurie George and husband Michael, Seward, Kathy Klammer and husband Joel, Ainsworth, NE, Greg Hafer and husband Randall Clark, Norfolk, VA, Larry Hafer and wife Julie, Firth, NE and Dale Hafer and wife Christi , Dunning, NE; 12 grandchildren: Tony and wife Gwen Bye, Brian and wife Paula George, Stephanie Johnson, Kyle and wife Hilary Klammer, Kayla Klammer, Dylan Hafer, Levi Hafer, Gavin Cejka, Jaelyn Cejka, Cassidy Hafer, Jacy Hafer and Logan Hafer; six great grandchildren: Corbin Bye, Lane Bye, Adrienne George, Hannah Johnson, Jaina Johnson and Aedan Witherspoon; four siblings, Doretta Schweitzer, Milford, Imagene Burkey, Milford, Clifford Roth and wife Sandy, Fremont and Lonnie Roth and wife Jeannie, Lincoln; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Delores Hafer, Seward; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Bill Cidlik, Paw Paw, IL.
