Julius William Dargel was born February 6, 1909 at the family home near Seward to Julius and Amelia (Bauer) Dargel and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on January 7, 2008 at the age of 98 years, 11 months, 1 day. Julius was baptized on February 26, 1909 by Rev. Gans and confirmed on March 25, 1923 by Rev. Merz, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. On April 30, 1943, Julius was united in marriage to Marie Nobbman. The couple farmed all of their married life. Julius was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Amelia Dargel; his wife, Marie Dargel in 2006; his sister, Frieda Dargel; brother and sister-in-law, John and Selma Dargel and his brother-in-law, Leo Schinkel. Julius is survived by his sister-in-law, Amanda Schinkel of Grand Island; nephews, Gary and Lyle Schinkel of Grand Island; niece and husband, Carol and Jack Pedersen, Grand Island; and a host of friends.
