Karl Leland King was born December 18, 1933, in Seward, Nebraska to Barney H (Sam) and Jeanette (Downing) King. He passed away on March 4, 2018, in Lincoln Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 14 days. Karl was a lifelong Seward resident and graduated from Seward High School in 1951.
In his younger years, he was an independent contractor painting water towers. Karl worked at Hughes Brothers from 1954 until his retirement in 1993.
Karl married Ramona Leigh in April 1955 and was married for 60 years. They spent their entire life in Seward where they raised their two daughters, Terry and Karla.
Karl and Ramona attended Nebraska football games for over 40 years. They traveled out of state to many regular season games and bowl games. He continued to listen to all Nebraska sports until his death. Together they spent many years traveling with their trailer and had a winter home in Arizona. Karl enjoyed going out to coffee with his friends, not once, but sometimes twice a day. Karl was a member of Seward United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; his parents; brothers, George, Richard, William; sister, Alice.
He is survived by his daughters, Terry (Jim) Bretscher, Alta Loma, California, Karla (Daniel) Bennett, Lincoln; granddaughters and husbands, Kelley (Kyle) Bedrosian, Newnan, Georgia, Kristen (Jimmy) Hughes, Newnan, Georgia, Kayla (Daniel) Pfingsten, Marietta, Georgia, Allison Bennett and fiancée, John Derr, Omaha; great grandchildren, Jaxon and Lexi Bedrosian and Emmy Pfingsten.
