Kelly Lynn (Simonsen) Mashek was born August 27, 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Billy Joe Simonsen and Lois Anna (Stewart) Simonsen and passed away on July 2, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 50 years, 10 months, 5 days. Kelly was a 1985 graduate of Parkview Adventist School in Oklahoma City and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oklahoma. Prior to her marriage, Kelly was employed with Fast Mart in Seward. On August 6, 1988, Kelly was united in marriage to John A. Mashek at the United Methodist Church in Ulysses. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Brendan, Holly and Andrew. Kelly graduated from Joseph's College of Beauty in Lincoln and operated K Lynn Salon at Heartland Park and was employed with Lucille's Beauty Salon, both in Seward. The family lived in Oklahoma from 2000 to 2004 before they returned to Ulysses. Kelly was employed with SRAP (Renewable Harvest) and then began her employment with Tenneco Automotive in Seward where she was still employed.
Kelly is preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Simonsen; grandparents, Joseph "Sonny" and Ella Simonsen, Lawrence and Margaret Stewart; parents-in-law, Don and Glenna Mashek; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Mashek.
Survivors cherishing Kelly's memory include her husband John Mashek, Ulysses; children: Brendan Mashek, Ulysses and fiancé, Amanda, Holly Mashek, Yukon, OK, and daughter Journey Lynn (to be born in September 2017) Andrew and wife Kayleigh Mashek, USMC California; mother, Lois Haile, Edmond, OK; siblings: Jimmy and Sherie Simonsen, Edmond, OK, Lori Foley, Irving, TX, Gena Shook, Luther, OK; special nephew, Matthew Simonsen, Yukon, OK; many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. Additional survivors include Kelly's brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families: James and Jeanie Mashek, Omaha, Jil-Beth and Kevin Svoboda, Valparaiso, Jennifer and Wade Nienaber, Omaha, Janet and Pat Mullally, Seward, Jocelyn and Scott Turner, Holton, KS. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Kelly.
