Kenneth James Andelt was born February 1, 1940 in Seward, Nebraska the son of James and Helen Frances (Novak) Andelt and passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 74 years, 9 months, 17 days. Ken attended a one room school by Denton and was a 1958 graduate of Malcolm High School. On July 20, 1963, Ken was united in marriage to Karen K. Bock in Garland, Nebraska, their marriage was blessed with three children, Brad, Vicki and Amy. They lived in Malcolm until moving to Valparaiso in December of 1975. Karen passed away in April of 1981. On August 10, 1983, Ken was united in marriage to Diane Kay (VanAndel) Thomas in Malcolm. Ken farmed and raised cattle and was the co-owner of Harry's in Valparaiso, retiring in 2011. Ken was an Elder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Malcolm and attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Lincoln. He was also a member of the Nebraska Cattlemans Association; he sold Cargill Seed and enjoyed bowling on the Brockmeier Ford Bowling Team and later his own team. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Andelt; his first wife, Karen Andelt; his father-in-law, Carl Bock; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Helena VanAndel; brothers-in-law, Loren Wacker, Loren Wallman, and Gerald Brase and nephew, Gerald Wacker. Ken is survived by his wife, Diane Andelt, Valparaiso; children and spouses, Brad and Jeanne Andelt, Valparaiso, Vicki and Douglas Russell and Amy Andelt and special friend, Brad Johnson, all of Lincoln; stepchildren and spouses, Becky and Marc Tejral and Cory and Leslie Thomas, all of Pleasant Dale; grandchildren, Jacob Tejral, Nathan Russell, Karen Andelt, Ryan Tejral, Bryant Russell, Helen Andelt, Mary Andelt, Logan Tejral, Braxtyn Thomas; sisters, Julia Wacker, Omaha, Carol Wallman and Bill Ostrander, Firth, Betty and Lonnie Schoenfeld, Friend; mother-in-law, Virginia Bock, Seward; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Leonard Ferguson, Denton, Wanda and Jim McNally, Pleasant Dale, Ila and Ron Deinert, Malcolm, Damaris and Jack Clagg, Seward; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
