Kenneth Gene Toovey was born June 21, 1949 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Kenneth Devere and Elizabeth Jean (Nitz) Toovey and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 31, 2011 at the age of 61 years, 11 months, 10 days. Kenny attended country school and was a 1968 graduate of Seward High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1971 and then began employment with Tom Foster Construction and a short time with Hemphill Electric. He had been employed with the City of Seward in the Water and Waste Water Department from April 17 of 1989 until the present time. Kenny was united in marriage to Patricia Kay Garcia on July 29, 1972 in Odell, Nebraska and their marriage was blessed with three children, Brian, Scott and Keri. They made their home on the family farm southeast of Seward since 1974. Kenny was a member of Heartland Church of Christ in Lincoln. Kenny is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth D. Toovey; his sister, Shirley Jean Toovey; father-in-law, Robert Garcia and brother-in-law, Kevin Heble. Kenny is survived by his wife, Pat Toovey, Seward; children and spouses, Brian and Leslie Toovey, Milford, Scott and Monica Toovey, Utica, Keri and Tim Lewis, Seward; grandchildren, Cole and Jackson Toovey, Emily Toovey and Baby "T" (soon to be born); mother and stepfather, Jean and Ray Gunderson, Norfolk; siblings and spouses, Charlie and Dalene Toovey, Staplehurst, Loren and Sharon Toovey, Pleasant Dale, Janice and Dave Hallberg, Norfolk; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Bette Garcia, Seward; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda and Tom Wendlind, John and Linda Garcia, Randy and Esther Freitag, all of Diller; longtime co-worker and friend, Doug Pollak and his wife, Robin, Seward and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Kenny. |
