Kent Richard Kettenburg was born on November 22, 1938, in Garland to Fred and Emma (Warnsholz) Kettenburg and passed away on November 27, 2017, at his home in Garland at the age of 79 years and 5 days.

Kent grew up in the Garland area where he attended and graduated from Garland High School with the Class of 1957. Kent enlisted into the Nebraska Air National Guard in 1956 and continued to serve for 22 years until he retired in 1978. On October 27, 1962, Kent was united in marriage to Bernice Agnes Novak at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward. After high school Kent worked at Gooch Food Products in Lincoln. He later began working at General Dynamics where he retired in 2004. During his retirement, Kent volunteered for the Nebraska State Patrol Road Assist program. Kent was a 40 year member of the Garland Fire Department where he served as a fireman, EMT, and civil defense coordinator. He was a long time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the encyclopedia.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Daniel; infant grandson; infant granddaughter, Abby; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Martha Novak.

Kent is survived by his wife, Bernice; five children: Kay Ficken and husband Rick, Pleasant Dale, Sharon Kamprath and husband Sid, Seward, Paula Kettenburg, Sioux Falls, SD, Cindy Pleas and husband Don, Lincoln, Eric Kettenburg, Lincoln; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters: Ann Bedient, Seward, Ruth Brown and husband Phillip, Camden, TN, Iris Carr, Seward, Betty Suhr and husband Stan, Rising City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
