Obituary

Lane Allen Reed was born on September 8, 1964, in Omaha, and was adopted by John H. and Eula I. (Gross) Reed and passed away on August 31, 2015, in Bee, at the age of 50 years 11 months and 23 days. Lane grew up in Lincoln where he attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1982. He then attended Southeast Community College where he graduated in 1984 with a degree in Tool and Die. On October 26, 1991, he married Shelley Ann Hotovy in Lincoln. They moved to the Bee area in 1995. He worked for Silverstrand Machine and Repair for 22 years before it closed this last April. Lane was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and teaching kids how to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, running tractors and farming. He loved spending time with family and friends and telling stories. Lane was a member of the Bee Volunteer Fire Department, Dwight Community Club and the couple has been attending the Seward United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother Eula Reed, parents-in-law, Ludvik and Ramona Hotovy, grandmothers, Margaret Reed and Elsie Gross. Lane is survived by his wife Shelley Reed of Bee, father John Reed of Lincoln, sister Lori and husband Troy Christensen of Omaha, sister-in-law Nancy and husband Dwayne Jakub of Brainard, brother-in-law Mark and wife Linda Hotovy of Dwight, sister-in-law Cindy Hotovy of Topeka, KS, nieces and nephews, Evan and Jesse Christensen, Melissa and husband Patrick Christiansen, Justin and Chelsie Jakub and Molly and Nick Kumpula, two dogs, Harlee and Jemma. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Lane.
