Larry Dean Ahlrichs was born February 25, 1945 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the son of Gerhart Johnson and Berniece Amelia (Ganzel) Ahlrichs and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on July 17, 2015 at the age of 70 years, 4 months, 22 days. Larry grew up in the Nebraska City and Nehawka area where he attended school. He worked for Capital Steel Contractors for 18 years building bridges. He later began employment as a truck driver for Grand Island Express, a position he held for 4 or 5 years. He received a plaque from Grand Island Express for 200,000 accident free miles. Larry enjoyed watching his sons and grandson race cars and their demolition derby events. Larry was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Larry was united in marriage to Clarice Eileen (Burling) Zimmerman on October 16, 1993 at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhart and Berniece Ahlrichs and an infant brother. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Ahlrichs, Seward; children and spouses, Larry, Jr. and Rose Ahlrichs, Lincoln, Jennifer Ahlrichs, Holly and David Lewis, Martel, Penney and Tim Foss, Lincoln, Douglas and Jessica Brauer, Silver Springs, MD, Trevis and Lori Zimmerman, Gering and 11 grandchildren. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Larry. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 23 at Zabka Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Zabka Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, with family present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
