Obituary

Larry Thomas Herrold was born in Seward Nebraska on April 3rd, 1947, to Thomas (Tommy) and Elsie (Hans) Herrold, and was the older brother to Ronnie Herrold. He passed away peacefully on the morning of January 20th, 2017, in Lincoln Nebraska at the age of 69 years 9 months and 17 days old.

Larry was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Garland, Nebraska. He graduated from Seward High School in 1965, and following his father's trade became a farmer in the northeast corner of Seward County. Larry concurrently served his country in the Nebraska National Guard for 6 years, attaining the rank of Private 1st class and earning the Sharp Shooter medal. He also worked many years as a heavy equipment operator for Hartmann Construction of Seward, and later formed his own business, Herrold Trucking of Garland.

Larry served his community as a member of the Garland Volunteer Fire Department, a member of American Legion Post 369 of Garland, and as a member of the board of directors of the Bee Co-Op. Larry was an accomplished sporting clays shooter, both in competition by winning the Cornhusker Games gold medal earning a slot in the national competition held in Colorado Springs, and also by enjoying the hobby with his sons and all of his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, wood craftsman, and fisherman.

Larry is survived by his wife Nancy Herrold; his oldest son Troy Herrold and his wife Candy and their two daughters Kelsey and Kalley; his youngest son Jason Herrold and his wife Kelly and their three sons Zachary, Michael, and Jacob; the mother of Larry's children, Carolyn (Candy) Herrold; Larry's younger brother Ronnie and his wife Cindy and their daughter Megan and two sons James and Kevin and his beloved dog, Duke.

Larry was preceded by his parents Tommy and Elsie.

This obituary commemorates the life and memories of Larry, and is added to our thoughts and prayers of him.

The family is collecting memorials that will be distributed to the Garland Fire Department, the American Legion in Garland, and the Zion Lutheran Church.
