Laurenda (Renny) Mae Cobb was born July 31, 1939 to Clifford and Bessie Thorne in York, Nebraska. At the age of 13 she developed Polio and moved to Seward, Nebraska. She later graduated from Seward High School in 1958 and worked for a time in Jack Gill's TV repair shop. On June 13, 1961, she married her pen pal of several years, Denzil Ray Cobb who was currently enlisted in the Air Force. She then left her family to travel with her husband for several years before returning to Seward. January 30, 1971 Laurenda gave birth to a son who they lovingly named Denzil Lee Cobb. She spent her life being a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt as well as spending time caring for others and doing her part to make the world a nicer place to live. She worked in the children's departments of Nazarene churches in Lincoln and York, Nebraska and was currently a member of the New Life Church of the Nazarene in York. Laurenda enjoyed baking and decorating cakes and cookies as well as sewing and embroidering gifts for friends and family. On September 18, 1987 she was a recipient of a liver transplant and was blessed with an additional 20 years of life, during which she was able to see her son graduate from high school, college and get married. Laurenda was preceded in eternal life by her parents Clifford and Bessie Thorne. She will one day be reunited with her husband Denzil Cobb, her son and daughter-in-law Denzil Lee and Kris Cobb, her brother LeRoy Thorne and his two sons Eugene and Clifton, her sister Patty Elliott and her daughter Lisa, and the rest of her brothers and sisters in Christ. |
