Our beautiful Mother, Laurine M. Novacek, passed away peacefully from this earth surrounded by her children on August 11, 2015 in Linoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 2 months, 9 days. She waged a courageous battle with dementia which took away her memory but could not erase her dignity. Born June 2, 1930 to Ludvik and Vlasta Marie (Kudlacek) Divis, near Loma, Nebraska, she grew up on the family farm in Loma. She married John H. Novacek of Dwight on June 14, 1951. Nine children were born to this union. Laurine was a very devout Catholic. She will be fondly remembered for her love of the color green, her birds ~ especially cardinals, and her green thumb. She and John were married 59 years and loved to polka and waltz and watch the Lawrence Welk show. She put in countless hours baking rolls, kolaches, and making dumplings for her family and church functions. Laurine was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight and a faithful member of the church choir. Laurine is survived by her children, and their spouses, Eloise and Larry Schwartz, Lincoln , David and Kathy Novacek, Seward, Mary Kaye and Chuck Kost, Lincoln, Donald Novacek, Dwight, Lori and Dana Miller, Gering, Clair Novacek, Dwight; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Leona Divis, Arnold and Ilene Divis; sister, Florence Parnham; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Cecilia Novacek and Alfred Novacek. She was preceded in death by her spouse, John, in January of 2011; children, Joyce, James and John; brothers, Ted Divis, Ray Divis and Alfred Divis and sister, Eleanor Divis.
