LaVerna L. McGrew was born July 24, 1917 in Seward County, Nebraska to Elsa (Prange) and Arthur Kamprath and passed away on September 6, 2006 at Villa St. Joseph Nursing Center in Overland Park, KS. at the age of 89 years, 1 month, 13 days. She was a graduate of Tamora High School and worked for several years at Hughes Brothers in Seward, Nebraska. LaVerna married Clarence Jack McGrew on November 12, 1955 in Seward, Nebraska. They moved to Kansas City in 1962 where she enjoyed her volunteer years working with children at Grace Lutheran Church and School in Kansas City, KS. Mr. McGrew died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Norman, Edgar and Marvin Kamprath, sister Dorcas Brandt, sisters-in law Irene, Mildred and Beatrice Kamprath and brother-in-law Aaron Brandt. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Kathleen McGrew and grandchildren Jack and Madison McGrew, of Leawood, KS, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and close friends.
