Obituary

Lee W. Cain was born on March 1, 1936, on a farm south of Utica, Nebraska to Elmer and Margaret (Deremer) Cain and passed away on January 7, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Lee graduated from Utica High School in 1954. He was enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1955, stationed at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas. Lee was then transferred to Fort Knox, KY. In 1955, he met Carolyn Obrist from Stromsburg, and they were married on June 2, 1956, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Carolyn then joined Lee in Fort Knox. They returned to Nebraska in 1957 and lived south of Utica, farming with Lee's dad. They then moved north of Utica in 1972. Lee worked for the City of Seward for 25 years and farmed.

Lee was a member of the Utica Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, Utica First United Methodist Church, and Utica Grange.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margaret Cain; son, Dennis Cain; one brother, and one sister.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife of 68.5 years, Carolyn Cain, Seward; children, Janice (Terry) Steinkamp of Lincoln, Gary (Doris) Cain of Fort Collins, CO, Dean (Suzanne) Cain of Almont, MI; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
