1:00 to 8:30 P.M. With family greeting friends 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Zabka funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lee Henry Petri was born October 24, 1919 on the family farm to Louis E. and Amelia (Kracke) Petri and passed away January 3, 2011 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was baptized on November 16, 1919 at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland, Nebraska. Lee attended District 32 County School and Garland Parochial School before graduating as Salutatorian from Garland High School in May 20, 1936. He attended Chillicothe Business School earning a degree in September of 1938. Lee started his career in Omaha with Central Securities Company and then with Peter Kiewitt Construction Company in Ogden, Utah as a project cost accountant. On April 29, 1942, Lee entered into the United States Air Force. He served in WWII in the North African and European Theaters of operations, participating in eight major battle campaigns and five continental invasions. His outfit was awarded the Unit Presidential Citation in the invasion of Salerno, Italy. Following an honorable discharges on September 30, 1945, Lee returned home to the farm. On October 1, 1949, Lee was united in marriage to Doris Besch at the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lee was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He served on the District 32 School Board, Garland Farmers Elevator Board, Seward County Fair Board, and the Seward County Rural Public Power District Board. Lee was the recipient of the Pioneer Farm Award in 1992 for ownership of the farm for 100 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sisters, Florence Petri, Esther Krueger and Berdine Petri. Lee is survived by his son, Mark Petri of Seward; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Keith Seilhan of Seward; grandchildren, Megan and Logan Seilhan of Seward; Several nephews and one niece.
