Leona Maggie (Lindner) Schmieding was born February 28, 1923 in Seward County, Nebraska to John and Anna (Hodde) Lindner and passed away on April 3, 2011 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 3 days. Leona attended Christian Day School at Trinity Lutheran School (Elks Slough). She was confirmed on March 21, 1937 also at Trinity Lutheran Church. Leona was united in marriage to Ervin Ernest Schmieding on May 6, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was employed in the cafeteria at Arnold Heights School in Lincoln for 18 years. Leona was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Malcolm.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Lindner; her husband Ervin Schmieding in 1967; brothers and sister-in-law, Alfred Lindner, Leonard and Florence Lindner, Lorenz Lindner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lora and Henry Schulz, Vera and Clarence Schmieding.
Surviviors include Leona's sister and brother-in-law, Verna Mae and Willard Spahr of Seward; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Earl and Ilah Schmieding, Cupertino, CA, Kara Belle and Rueben Giebelhaus, Lincoln, Glen and Karen Schmieding, Lincoln, Ken and Cheryl Schmieding, Seward, Darleen Duerr, Ponca City, OK, Wilma Jean and Fred Erks, York, Merle and Carole Schulz, Seward, Larrie and Robert Daniels, Lincoln, Melvin and Cheryl Lindner, Malcolm, Gayle Spahr, Seward, Janet and Byron Melichar, Crete; many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Leona.
